IMC European Awards 2009 Finalists Announced
1 October 2009 -IMC European Awards 2009 Finalists Announced
Brussels 30th September 2009:- Dutch agencies were the best performers in this year’s IMC European Awards for Integrated Marketing Communications with 16 finalists, followed by the UK with 12, Belgium 6, Ireland 5, Italy 4 and Spain 1. Among individual agencies, the UK’s integrated marketing campaign ‘White Invite’ by the Blue-Chip Marketing agency for Visit Scotland was the outstanding performer, receiving 3 individual category nominations out of a total 44 finalists selected by a top international jury panel.
Finalist campaigns came from 26 agencies in 6 countries, with the ‘Integrated Communication’ category continuing to prove the most popular.
Overall 88 entries from 10 countries, all winners of national competitions, were judged online by 46 senior industry judges over a 5-week period. All entries and judging procedures were managed via the official website at www.imceuropeanawards.com.
According to Jury Chairman, Renate Vogt, fully integrated campaigns, using a broad range of on- and offline media, are now a confirmed trend, not only in Europe, but worldwide.
We saw the highest-ever number of entries in the "integrated communication" category which gave the judges a tough challenge to select the finalists,“ she commented. “The 2009 entries were again of a very high quality, but (probably influenced by the world wide recession) they showed a greater focus on direct and measurable results in terms of strategy and media choice.”
IMC Chairman Christos Damalas believes the IMC European Awards play an important role in highlighting and rewarding the most innovative promotional techniques, regardless of scale & budget.
“There are clearly some big budget productions among the finalists,” he said, “but it is really encouraging to see small, low budget campaigns, such as the one for Upload Cinema in The Netherlands, being recognised for achieving great results through creative and innovative thinking – that is what really sets the best integrated marketing campaigns apart.”
The IMC European Awards are open to national award winners in the 10 member countries of the Integrated Marketing Communications Council of Europe and are managed by the EACA, with the assistance of the IMCC and with the support of WARC and Adforum.
